Fifth Grade Beginning Band

Fifth Grade Beginning Band Requirements:

Fifth Grade Beginning Band will be working out of Essential Elements Book 1 for the student's specific instrument.  These books can be purchased at any music store in the Bloomington-Normal area.  (Please check under the "Music Resources" tab for more information on area stores.)  Fifth grade students will be expected to practice for 1 hour each week.  Practice should be logged in the front of the students Essential Elements book and initialed by a parent.  Practice records will be checked weekly and will count towards the students band grade.  It is highly suggested that students practice more than 1 hour each week, extra credit will be given for this time.

Materials:
    Flutes - Book, Pencil, Cleaning Rod and Cloth
    Clarinets - Book, Pencil, Reeds (at least 3), Cork Grease, Cleaning Swab
    Saxophone - Book, Pencil, Reeds (at least 3), Cleaning Swab
    Brass - Book, Pencil, Slide Grease, Valve Oil
    Percussion - Book, Pencil, Mallets or Snare Sticks

Lesson Schedule

Monday - Flute, Oboe, Saxophone, Bells

Tuesday - Clarinet

Wednesday - Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone

Thursday - Drums

Friday - Full Band

5th Grade lessons are during the day from 11:30-12:00pm.
